Captive heart

We called this cake "captive heart" because it is an important course in our dinner menu for two for the Halloween night (read more on Love potion menu).
This cake is bound to a particular atmosphere to create and share between two lovers.
But since there are the chains you can prepare it if you're planning a buffet menu for your kids at Halloween. Besides it's very, very tasty! Therefore if you don't like its shape use the same ingredients for another sweet tart bound to Halloween themes.

This dessert is particularly suitable for our menu "Love potion" but it can be made for every special occasion

Prepare short pastry. Use flour, sugar, egg, softened butter, vanilla powder and salt to make short pastry. Read more about short pastry on our website. The only difference is that we prefer to use a whole egg in this recipe rather than two yolks as you can read in the original recipe.
Gather your dough into a rough ball and wrap it with cling film. Let it rest for about 30 minutes in a cool place.

Prepare all tarts. Preheat the oven to 180C (350F).

Roll out your short pastry on a lightly floured surface helping yourself with a rolling pin.
It isn't necessary to have a heart-shaped baking pan. You can have a heart cutting its shape out of short pastry with a knife. Press the bottom to have a raised edge and modify it with a fork as you can see in the photo. Spoon some pomegranate jam on its bottom. Line a baking pan with oven paper. Transfer the tart on the baking pan. Bake, about 20 minutes.

Cut all chains out of remaining short pasrty, each ring separately. Open every ring to insert it into the previous one and then close it. Form a groove with your finger and spoon hazelnut cream. Cover cream with the walnuts.
Bake the chains for about 15 minutes.

Compose your platter. Let all tarts cool.
Draw a second heart inside the first with chopped hazelnuts. Place your heart-shaped tart on the center and all chains around as you can see in the photo.
Your cake is ready!
